Our client is a Canadian manufacturer of paper products that obsesses over quality. As such, each customer complaint and quality exception needs to be identified, investigated, logged in the system and resolved in a timely manner. The technology supporting the existing system was dated with certain limitations. M.R.S. was engaged to help them determine the best path forward.


The original solution was built using older technology and had limitations that were holding back the quality control process. Our client sought a solution that would be mobile-enabled, simple to use, and easy to upgrade and service. The old technology made it very difficult to enhance or add features and heightened the costs and risk of supporting it. On the old system, inputting reports was unintuitive as well. It was determined that with a mobile enabled solution, the travelling staff would input the quality reports on a tablet while discussing the complaint first-hand at the client’s site. Our clients’ desire to continually improve their quality control processes required a new, custom solution built from the ground up.


M.R.S. Company used SharePoint and leveraged it’s expertise to create custom workflows, optimize the search function, set up alerts/notifications, secure authentication, set access permissions, and more to deliver the functionality that our client needed. Furthermore, we optimized the SharePoint application for mobile use to make it smooth and responsive on phones and tablets.


The final result was an intuitive application that facilitated the production of quality reports; improved collaboration and provided management with deep insights into quality issues, which enabled the business to improve customer service processes. Further, because it is built on SharePoint, it is well-supported by Microsoft and can be enhanced as needed.
