Last week, Microsoft released IT preview of SharePoint 2016. Following blog post is about SharePoint 2016 IT preview installation experience:
In splash page, first this is to install prerequisites
After restarting, the next thing is to do install SharePoint 2016 from splash page
Enter the trial key available on download page for SharePoint 2016 IT preview
We left the file location to the defaults
Now is the time to run Configuration Wizard
Provide Passphase so that you can add more servers to the farm in future.
Since we are only trying Single Server installation, we will select only single server farm installation option. This is something new in SharePoint 2016 i.e. role base configuration. You can run setup with configuration optimized for front-end, Application, Distributed cache, Search.
Okay so the configuration wizard is completed without any issue. Next step is to open Central Admin and run further configuration in central administration site.
There are some new services in SharePoint 2016, we tried enabling Microsoft SharePoint Insights service but it can’t be enabled in IT preview. It will be interesting to know more about these services going forward.
Except the insight service the wizard ran successfully. The look and feel is lot more like Office 365 now. Stay tuned for our future blog posts on SharePoint 2016, as in next few posts we will go deep inside SharePoint 2016 to find out the new features in this release of SharePoint.
